Welcome to the BCFTOA web site
The British Columbia Fire Training Officers Association, more commonly referred as the BCFTOA, is dedicated to gathering information on training standards and providing this information to fire departments so they may effectively and safely train their members. In a world of ever changing standards and regulations, this organization provides fire departments with the most current, up-to-date course information and training requirements.
The members of the Association are formally organized fire departments or fire service-training organizations, accepted upon submission of an application form and payment of the current annual membership fee.
The purposes of the Association are:
- To promote uniform training procedures for the Fire Service in British Columbia.
- To study areas of mutual concern to the Fire Service, particularly in the field of training.
- To promote the exchange of ideas and techniques in the field of firefighting and fire prevention technology.
- To research, develop and recommend new and improved methods, techniques, equipment and apparatus.
The BCFTOA hosts an annual Educational Workshop, where fire department officers can meet and share their ideas and views on training and leadership. During this conference, seminars and mini-workshops are available to help those attending keep current in training practices.
In addition to the conferences and courses that we sponsor we also have a newsletter and this website devoted to issues that concern our members.
The Association is non-partisan and shall not be used for the dissemination of partisan principles or for the promotion of the candidacy of any person or party seeking public office or preferment. This provision is not alterable.
