Strategic Planning Committee will focus the direction of the Fire Service in the up coming years. Fire and Safety Advisory committee will take the concerns of members to the FA. Report for organizations re training went to the F& SD. They responded. A new independent survey will be done. Members MUST reply to give the survey validity. |
Lane MacDonald and Dennis Montgomery will write an article for the Newsletter explaining the importance of members responding to the survey. |

Review of zones is underway - boundaries are a concern due to size and distances on some zones. An email contact was requested for EACH zone. Paraphernalia is still for sale. |
Zone reps were encouraged to write about what is happening in the zone for the Newsletter to improve communication |

One meeting held Reviewed plans for expanding F&STC. Emphasis on industrial training. Pumps and pumping courses are being conducted using regional training centers. |

Strategic plan has been developed 2001- 2006 - will be circulated. Fire and Life Safety Curriculum is almost ready. Will be printed by OFC 10 brochures have been revised and printed. They are available in BC ONLY. Fire Prevention week Oct. 7-13 theme - Cover the bases - strike out fire. |

Action re Safety Committee. Reports to B Cannon. L Fry has held numerous meetings. Al info can go to L Fry AFRS. Meets after Z2 meetings on alternate months. Donation of $1000 made to JIBC Library. First Association to donate. Assistance to small departments was considered. An equitable way to do this was not found so no action was taken. Members are asked for their suggestions. None were forthcoming. Met with Fire chiefs to discuss need to communicate more. Randy Shaw is liaison. Met to review communications and FSI I and II process. All course scheduling to go through Geoff Burston. At F&SD.
BCFTOA is on the subcommittee for volunteer departments. Great start but it has faltered. A new webmaster will be looked into. This is considered an ESSENTIAL communication tools. Bruce reported that this has been an excellent training opportunity. Coordinated by OFC, Kitimat Fire and ALCAN. |
Info - Larry Fry AFRS Contact B Cannon MFRS Action on hold for equitable means to accomplish this. Minutes to be sent to FC's. FSI-I II course to go through Geoff Burston F&SD. Bruce Dundas to follow up and get the web page operating ASAP Congratulations to all for their involvement. |

Larry Fry expressed concerns re the IAFF motion regarding instruction of volunteer firefighters. Moved Wes Patterson Second Rich Finley The Survey and response be circulated to member departments. Roger Knorr invited all to Quesnel 2002. Plans are already made. Host hotel is the Tower Inn 1-800-663-2009.
