FIRE TRAINING OFFICER ORIENTATION

This program is designed to offer perspectives into the non instructional roles and responsibilities of the Training Officer. It explores the roles and responsibilities of Training Officers, the impact of Standards and Regulations on training. Program Management, their concepts, principles and application, the use of Evaluation Tools in training and Program Development.

The program would be of interest to those entering the Training Officer role, those interested in training and current Training Officers wishing to examine the non-instructional aspects of the position.

R.W. (Bob) GORDON

 

 Bob has been involved with the Fire Service for over forty years. He was a career Firefighter for 37 years, ten of those being a Chief Training Officer. Since his retirement he has been active in course delivery, program design and consulting. He currently is Zone 2 Chairman of the B.C. Fire Training Officer Association, a position he has held since 1998.

  Bob authored the original Fire Service Instructor I and II programs, currently offered through the Fire and Safety Division and was recipient of the B.C. Fire Service Training Achievement Award in 1998. Bob has extensive background in designing and presenting Train the Trainer programs, teaches Confined Space programs for industry and fire and offers Strategy and Tactics programs.
