Tom has worked in the Electrical Utility Industry in excess of forty years. This includes both Administrative and Field Management positions with BC Hydro. He held many positions at BC Hydro in Administration, Construction and Operations. These included responsibility for Training, Trades and Apprentice Training, Labour Relations, Human Resources, and Safety. Later in his career he moved to Operations where he was responsible for field crews and Hydro Operations in a variety of Vancouver Island location from Port Hardy to Nanaimo. When he retired from Hydro he was responsible for line field staff in Courtenay/Powell River.

Since retirement from BC Hydro, Tom has kept busy providing public Safety Programs on behalf of BC Hydro through the Electrical Industry Training Institute. These include training for Emergency Responders (Fire, Police, and Ambulance), and Industrial clients who work in proximity to power lines. He has also delivered electrical awareness training in grade schools.
