Here are some action shots of the Value Village Fire we attended on Wed. May 22 2002.

This fire occurred at 18:06 Pm with customers and staff in the store. The store was approximately 10250 square feet originally and old Super Value Store built in about 1965. It contained used clothing, furniture and household items. Cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time. From an Incident Command perspective this was a Large Scale Emergency with hall from Langley Township, Surrey and Langley City. At one point we had 80 fire fighters, 7 pumps and 3 aerial devices working on the fire.

I am planning to give a presentation on this fire and it's lessons learned to anyone in the fire service who may be interested. The opportunity to have to be in command of a multiple jurisdictional incident and the lessons learned could be invaluable to many Chiefs, Training Officers and Fire Fighters should the big one hit their community. Having the responsibility of managing all the needed resources to maintain these and other outside agencies at the same time is a large undertaking and those of us who think they can manage this type of incident on their own are sadly mistaken. You need to have a Great Team and all its members must be trained in both Incident Command system and Passport Accountability. Not to mention the oust side agencies need to be apart of the system.

I have many valuable lessons to share with those who want to enhance their current training.
